Famer of the Week - The Synchronicity of Indeterminacy
If you’ve been blogging since August 2004, taken a few breaks in between, the most recent break because your wife and son happed to be in a severe automobile accident, come back, and people are still reading you, you can be pretty certain you have a good thing going.
As is the case with our “Famer” this week. Indie, and his blog The Synchronicity of Indeterminacy.
Self described as “Found Photo Stories: Life and Art Linked by Photographs A study in creativity, this site features one-minute short stories inspired by found photos, an idea based on the “Indeterminacy” recordings by John Cage, pairing one-minute short stories with random sounds.”
Indie, as most who read his blog know him, an American living in Europe since the late 1980’s, began his blog experiment in August 2004 . His introduction , written on August 12th 2004, is highly suggested reading. The complete explanation of the concept is as fascinating as this unique and entertaining concept blog itself.
Every so often, or as time allows these days, Indie posts a photo, sometimes artwork, to his blog, requesting people write brief one minute stories in the comments, eventually Indie returns, posts his story, reads the stories in the comments and comments himself, while commenter’s return to read his story, and to comment on the mini stories of others. Yes quite a little crowd there at times.
Indie does great justice to all photos with his writings, would there be just that it would be more than enough, but there is the added benefit of being able to post your own brief story, while reading the tiny stories of others.
Indie’s story genre’s vary, the photos are unique, and more often than not the ending is clever and usually unexpected.
An extremely entertaining, original blog with a loyal, literate, but not without their idiosyncrasies, following. You will not fail to enjoy the brief stories developed from Indie’s discoveries.
I have been reading Indie for some time, again one of the first blogs I read, and one of the few of that time period I am still reading.
A blog more than worthy of “famer” status, please welcome The Synchronicity of Indeterminacy to the blogroll and head on over to write a short of your own.
